Overview

Defence-Tech Companies in the NATO DIANA Programme

DIANA is NATO's accelerator for early-stage companies whose technology has defence and security applications. Rather than procuring finished systems, it funds and mentors small companies and connects them to a network of test centres across the Alliance. This hub is a single view of that portfolio: 274 distinct companies across 275 selection records, 30 countries and 16 challenge areas, with 239 records verified directly against official announcements.

What makes a company a DIANA defence-tech company

Selected against a challenge

Companies do not apply in the abstract. Each round publishes challenge areas, and a company is selected against one of them, which is what the tracker records as its challenge area.

Early stage, dual-use

DIANA targets deep-tech companies whose technology has both civilian and defence applications, rather than established prime contractors.

Funded and accelerated

Selection brings a €100,000 non-dilutive Phase 1 grant, a place in the accelerator, and access to the test centre network. A minority continue to Phase 2 with a further €300,000.

Methodology and limitations

Every company on this page comes from an official NATO DIANA cohort or special challenge announcement. The tracker adds no companies on the basis of press coverage, investor lists or self-description. Distinct companies and selection records are counted separately because a company selected in two rounds appears twice in the announcements.

The tracker records what is published: cohort, challenge area, country, funding stage and source. Contract awards, revenue, headcount and private investment are outside the dataset and are shown as not publicly available rather than estimated.

Alliance Tech Tracker is independent and unofficial and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NATO or DIANA. Where a value is not published, records show "Not publicly available" rather than an estimate. See the full methodology.
