DIANA Selection Rates by Cohort: 2024 to 2026
By Alliance Tech Tracker research · Published 2026-08-23 · Updated 2026-08-23
Selection rates are calculated as announced selected companies divided by published application figures. Where a published figure is a rounded minimum (for example 1,300+), the true rate may be slightly lower than the figure shown, so treat these as approximate upper bounds. All figures come from official NATO DIANA announcements.
| Cohort | Applicants | Selected | Selection rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 1,300+ | 44 | ~3.4% |
| 2025 | 2,600+ | 72 | ~2.8% |
| 2026 | 3,600+ | 149 tracked (150 announced) | ~4.2% |
| Warfighters | 427 | 10 | ~2.3% |
What the numbers show
The 2024 cohort was the least selective at about 3.4%: DIANA was a new programme and received 1,300+ applications for 44 places. Applications doubled for 2025 (2,600+ published) while the cohort grew to 72 places, giving about 2.8%, the most selective annual cohort. The 2026 cohort was the largest so far: 150 companies announced from 3,600+ applications, about 4.2%, as the cohort size grew faster than applications.
The Warfighters Challenge is the most selective track overall: 10 companies from 427 applications, about 2.3%, for a special challenge run with NATO Allied Command Operations and Task Force Maven.
Across all four selection rounds, 275 companies are tracked from a combined 7,500+ applicants, an overall selection rate of approximately 3.7%.
How to read these figures
Applicant numbers are the figures published by NATO DIANA at each announcement and are rounded minimums. Selected-company counts are the officially announced totals; for the 2026 cohort: 150 companies announced by NATO DIANA · 149 individually verified in Alliance Tech Tracker, so rates here use the announced figure. Applications to multiple challenge areas within one cohort are not separated in the published figures.
Source links for every cohort are listed on each cohort page and in the methodology.
